Understand how billing works for one-time, recurring, and automated campaigns.
Campaign Billing Methods
Every campaign type in BirdseyePost has its own billing flow, depending on how the campaign runs—whether it's a one-time blast or an ongoing triggered flow. It's important to understand how and when you're charged so you can plan and budget with confidence.
Below is a breakdown of how billing works for each campaign type:
Campaign Type | Frequency | Billing Method |
CSV Retention | One-time | Full payment at launch |
Addressed Acquisition | One-time or Monthly | Charged at launch, then monthly (if recurring) |
Neighborhood Mail | One-time or Monthly | Charged at launch, then monthly (if recurring) |
SmartMailers | Ongoing | Deducted via Birdseye Balance |
Birdseye Balance (SmartMailers Only)
Birdseye Balance is a prepaid billing system designed specifically for SmartMailer campaigns, which run continuously and send mail based on customer behavior.
Instead of charging your card every time a postcard is sent, BirdseyePost draws from your balance. When your balance reaches $0, it automatically refills to your set top-up amount using your saved payment method.

Key Benefits:
Ensures uninterrupted delivery for triggered SmartMailer flows
Prevents overages—you’re never charged more than your monthly cap
Reduces the number of transactions on your billing statement
How it works:
Set a balance top-up amount (e.g., $1,000) either within campaign setup, or in the Billing & Payment Settings
SmartMailer campaigns will automatically deduct from this balance as they’re triggered
When your balance hits zero, it auto-refills to your top-up amount
You can manage or change your top-up settings anytime in the Billing & Payment Settings
Billing Cycles
BirdseyePost billing is structured to align with the type of campaign you’re running. Whether you're running a one-time promotion or ongoing automated flows, you’ll always know when and how you're being charged.
One-time: charged at activation
Monthly: charged based on campaign launch date
SmartMailers: billed as mail is sent via your balance
